Sustainability Literacy
The Office for Sustainability undertook an extensive evaluation of sustainability literacy across students, faculty, and staff to better understand how the university community learns, applies, and retains core concepts of sustainability.Through a comprehensive series of assessments and reports that were developed respectively for students, staff, and faculty, the Office systematically analyzed perceptions, knowledge, and engagement with sustainable development principles. The findings highlighted the integration of sustainability across academic curricula, operational practices, and institutional culture, emphasizing experiential learning and awareness-building initiatives.
The reports also identified existing strengths and areas requiring further reinforcement, such as embedding sustainability more deeply into teaching, administrative procedures, and student activities. This collective effort laid the groundwork for a structured framework to measure sustainability literacy, guiding the Office’s next phase of work in refining indicators and developing tailored interventions to enhance sustainable learning outcomes across the entire university community.
