Practices
Community Outreach
Students led many community relief initiatives during the 2024 war on Lebanon. Their efforts ranged from blood donation campaigns, medical volunteering, entertainment and therapy sessions at schools sheltering the displaced, to donation drives and projects for food, clothing, medications and hygienic necessities.
SDGs 2-3-10
In line with the university’s Strategic Plan IV-Pillar III, Innovate to Inspire, the LAU Libraries have recently acquired software that makes their content accessible to the visually impaired community. Designated desktop computers on each campus have been improved with JAWS (Job Access for Speech), a software that enables screen reading, and OpenBook, which converts print materials and PDFs into speech.
SDGs 4-10
Students from the Monsif International School can now access LAU Libraries through a formal subscription plan signed with the university, which includes training and information sessions on how to use the library facilities.
SDGs 4-11
LAU follows international standards on its campuses and buildings so that people with physical challenges receive equal learning and working opportunities.
SDG 10Conscientious Education
Each year, LAU grants financial support to students in need. In the Academic Year 2023-2024, 12 categories of financial aid rewards supported the education of more than 7000 students.
SDGs 1-4
The new Liberal Arts and Sciences Curriculum (LASC) is a multidisciplinary program focused on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, designed to foster intellectual growth, well-being, and global awareness.
SDG 4Research
Through its Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative membership, the university offers its graduate students and faculty training and certification to ensure ethical conduct of research.
SDG 4
A symposium organized by the Global Affairs Service Center initiated collaboration between academia and developmental agencies toward the country’s revival and sustainability. To that end, a multidisciplinary task force under LAU’s Global Affairs Service Center (GASC) was established.

Just over half of LAU’s workforce is female, compared to 31.8 percent nation-wide.
SDGs 5-8
Reaffirming its commitment to gender equality, public health, and the wellbeing of its employees, LAU has taken yet another step toward becoming a mother-friendly campus by introducing a breastfeeding support room on its premises.
SDGs 3-5
Faculty and staff are engaged in the university’s mental health support system as facilitators of early intervention and assessment to support students with learning, emotional, and psychological issues that may arise.
SDGs 3-8
Nearly half of LAU’s operating budget is strategically invested into 14 categories of academic awards, the majority awarded as grants.
SDGs 1-4
Most LAU websites are hosted on data centers operated under environment-friendly policies such as using power-efficient processors and cooling, and obtaining electricity from renewable sources.
