Blue Ambassador Day at the LAU Byblos Campus
The Office for Sustainability, in collaboration with the Department of Liberal Studies at the School of Arts and Sciences, organized the Blue Ambassador Day on November 13, 2025, at the LAU Byblos Campus. Blue Ambassador Day is an outreach and awareness initiative designed to empower school students to serve as “Blue Ambassadors” by promoting water security awareness, sustainable water management practices, and climate-related education within their communities.
The event brought together 119 students from Collège des Sœurs du Rosaire–Jbeil, offering them an engaging and educational experience focused on environmental stewardship. Throughout the day, visiting students participated in five interactive booth stations led by members of the LAU Chem Club and the American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter. These stations tackled essential thematic areas, including:
- Climate Change and Water Security
- The Human Right to Water
- Water Footprint
- Artificial Intelligence and Water Security
In addition to the booths, students explored real-world applications of sustainability practices through guided technical tours of LAU’s rainwater harvesting system and the wastewater treatment plant. Supported by engineers from the Facilities Management team at the Byblos campus, these visits provided practical insights into sustainable water management approaches implemented at LAU.
Blue Ambassador Day successfully strengthened environmental literacy, community engagement, and youth leadership in sustainability. The event offered students a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience, reaffirming LAU’s commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability across communities.
